PRIVET  ‘Windermere’, Mangonui

81 × 31 cms (96 × 46 cms framed)    oil on gesso board

A bent wire fence keeps the donkeys out on the harbour cliff top, away from the garden of this early New Zealand house called Windemere. I am shaded by a giant privet tree innocently planted years ago. Its massive trunk divides the peaceful house from the wild harbour.
